Middle of the Amazon
My afternoon is free
Fishing pole is ready
Piranhas come to me
Leftovers are my bait
It’s not too long to wait
I’ve got a bite
It’s worth the fight
A fishy dangles on the hook
But the guide starts to laugh
Because another tourist caught
Faux piranha riffraff
Explanation: While visiting the Amazon jungle, I tried fishing for piranha using leftover chicken chunks from lunch. I caught my first fish! I proudly showed it to a local guide, who shattered my piranha dreams with his astute identification skills. I still can’t remember the name of that fish.
And yes…the top teeth are arrows. I didn’t take the time to figure out how to create an upside down triangle with my free drawing tool.
Darn perfectionism. 😦 I was putting too much pressure on myself, so the blog started to feel like work. After avoiding it for months, I’m taking over my anxiety and persevering. Here is my attempt at creating an inspirational quote: To be flawless is futile and fake. Being fallible brings freedom and fun. Did you notice the use of alliteration? 🙂
I’m a very literal person, and (as my husband likes to say) a “hyper-communicator,” so if you haven’t figured it out, this is a metaphor: it doesn’t matter what color we are or what we look like, we’re all wonderful just as we are!
P.S. Google says that all grapes are edible, but not necessarily tasty. FYI Don’t eat the poisonous grape impostor called common moonseed.
I fell asleep yesterday and didn’t post, but I woke up in time to take the cinnamon buns out of the oven! Also, I’m going to change post days to WTF instead of MTWTF (i.e. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday instead of Monday to Friday. WTF. Get it? 🙂 ). I bit off more than I could chew (which never happens with cupcakes). I’m using this as an opportunity to put self-compassion into action.
